NELSON
"Every scar carries a story. Every story carries purpose. Every purpose reveals God's glory."
— Lavonia Nelson
Some people are called to build businesses. Others are called to create art, serve communities, or inspire change. Lavonia Nelson has been called to do all four—not for recognition, but to reveal the glory of God through every season of her life.
From life's greatest challenges emerged a calling to build businesses, serve families through philanthropy, and create transformational media. Her journey is a testament to one unwavering truth: purpose is not found in what we accomplish, but in who we become through Christ. This belief has become the foundation of her life's work and the driving force behind every organization, every project, and every message she shares with the world.
God often reveals purpose through process. For Lavonia Nelson, that process began with a single moment that forever changed the trajectory of her life. At 17 years old, she survived a catastrophic automobile accident that nearly claimed her life. Airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and extensive facial trauma, she endured months of recovery and rehabilitation. What appeared to be a tragedy became the beginning of a lifelong journey toward faith, healing, resilience, and purpose.
What could have been the end of her story became the beginning of her purpose. The accident didn't just change Lavonia's life—it transformed the way she viewed it. It instilled an unshakable belief that God wastes nothing and that every trial, no matter how painful, can become a testimony of His grace. That perspective continues to shape her leadership, her businesses, her philanthropy, and the message she shares with the world. Today every chapter of Lavonia's journey reflects the same truth: that God can transform pain into purpose, purpose into service, and service into legacy.
Lavonia believes that true transformation begins in a daily covenant and communion with God. That foundation has shaped the way she leads, creates, serves, and tells stories that inspire others.
Lavonia's spiritual journey began at an early age alongside her fraternal twin. As their passion for God grew, their siblings followed. Witnessing the transformation in her children, their mother began seeking God as well, eventually embracing a life of evangelism. Together, their family's journey of faith shaped Lavonia's understanding of purpose, perseverance, and the power of God's calling.
From the backseat of a cramped car traveling cross-country, Lavonia supported her mother's ministry—booking engagements, securing fair compensation, and protecting a calling that could not be silenced. These experiences, both beautiful and challenging, shaped her honest lens on faith—an exploration that lies at the heart of I Am Glory
Lavonia is also the Founder and Executive Director of Tiny Babies Foundation, which has served over 2,000 families since 2008. Through thoughtful programming focused on educating parents about the life-saving power of breast milk, Lavonia and her team—including board member U.S. Senator Donzella James—have created partnerships nationwide to support infant and maternal health.
Her professional résumé includes a remarkable real estate career, earning over $20 million in sales. As a mortgage broker of 15+ years, she's helped thousands—especially first-time minority buyers—achieve homeownership. Lavonia is also a published co-author alongside legendary motivational speaker Les Brown, contributing her voice to a powerful anthology that uplifts and inspires readers through testimonies of resilience, purpose, and faith. A proud mother and serial entrepreneur, Lavonia draws inspiration from her late mother's independence and grit. She has intentionally raised her children to be business-minded and socially conscious, leading them to launch four businesses before the age of 18—including a thriving streetwear and lifestyle brand. She is also the author of the children's book "Growing Up with Jovani", a heartfelt tribute to her daughter and son, available through Trafford Publishing on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and major online retailers.
